Information from North Yorkshire Council's New Recycling Service:
From this week, most residents in the former Richmondshire area will need to use their new recycling wheelie bins instead of their boxes and bags. The blue lidded bin is for paper and card, and the red lidded bin is for glass, cans, plastics and cartons.
We’ll still collect rubbish or recycling every week. One week we’ll empty the rubbish wheelie bin, and the next week we’ll empty one of the two new recycling wheelie bins.
The information previous replaces any existing collection day information you may have. Your new collection dates are also available on our website from next week.
Why have we introduced these improvements?
We are improving your recycling service to make it simpler, more efficient and consistent across North Yorkshire. These changes will improve the quality of the materials we collect, reduce processing costs, increase the value of recyclable materials and support our carbon reduction ambitions. They will also ensure we meet new national recycling requirements designed to help more waste be recycled. And by making better use of resources and reducing costs, we can help protect the frontline services that matter most to our communities.
